Mos Def True Magic album art

True Magic came in a clear cd case without cover art, credits or a booklet. As I passed it in the stacks at Amoeba, it registered as a bootleg or advance copy, not the latest album from Mos Def (circa 2006). Rumors suggested that this was a product of Geffen Records refusing to promote the album, others say Mos requested it be released without promotion.

After ripping the album, the original artwork was just too ugly to put into itunes and a rework was in order. My take references the original concept. I chose a photo that complements the atmosphere of the album, and a straightforward type treatment that works well at large and small sizes.

I was reminded of it this week while cleaning up iTunes and thought it was worth sharing.

New music from Trent Resnor

How To Destroy Angles is the first music from Trent Resnor since the end of the Nine Inch Nails. The vocals will take a little getting used to, but the sound is killer.
